Founder of the Nigerian Marketing Awards (NMA), Tony Agenmonmen, has called on marketing practitioners in the country to remain authentic, ethical and focused on delivering genuine value to their consumers, as they embrace technology in their operations.
Agenmonmen made the call during the third edition of the annual Nigerian Marketing Awards (NMA) in Lagos, at the weekend.
The immediate past president of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) said while AI remains a powerful tool for marketers, it is, however, the heart and vision of each marketer that turns technology into transformation.
He said the increased consciousness of today’s consumers about the environmental impact of the products and brands they support, provides opportunity for marketers to communicate sustainability in meaningful ways, champion brands that prioritise the planet, and craft campaigns that drive awareness and inspire positive change.
Agenmonmen said this year’s edition of the awards, tagged: ‘Ignite’, was designed to ignite the spark in every marketer to push boundaries, set new standards, and elevate marketing across the country.
Chairman, Awards Decision Committee, Iquo Ukoh, commended the organisers for their resilience, despite the trying economic times, which had hindered brands from performing to their full capacity.
She said while the entries for this year’s edition of the awards were much lower, there was a marked improvement in the quality of such entries, when compared with what obtained last year.
“This is quite understandable seeing the abysmal financial performance of many organisations, especially in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods sector for 2023-24 financial year,” she said.
