Executive Vice Chairman Green Lock FC Limited, Olufunsho Peters says the Nationwide League One drive in the business part of the beautiful game, wooed the club to the nation’s third-tier league.
Peters, a former Malaga of Spain product spoke on the vision of Green Lock FC Limited, Nigeria’s football culture and other interesting topics.
“Green Lock FC Ltd is starting off from the Nationwide League One (NLO), as we see great potentials in the nation’s third-tier domestic league brand.
“They’re obviously well established football bodies and we are more interested in the NLO diverse ways of looking into the business world of football.
“From the matches, season fixtures setup and what they stand for, as they have a holistic view about everything football, and that’s what we stand for, in other to bring football to higher heights in Nigeria and the whole of Africa.”
On Green Lock FC Ltd vision, “We plan to play at the highest level possible not just in Nigeria, but also all around the world. Yes obviously there will be some local matches and competitions to begin with but with the plan set in place and progression, we believe Green Lock FC Ltd has no limits.”
For the NLO season, “Green Lock FC Ltd plan is making sure the boys are fit and ready as soon as possible for the coming season. Not just that, we have to make sure that there is a great community based setup, in other for the boys to feel at home and make sure that they’re with one another.
“As not that we have players that are best of the best, but we are also building up brotherhood. A group of players that can work together as a team and be brothers.
“We plan to have a great event, a ground shaking one by God’s grace. With that said, a big important part is that the players, coaches, scouts and everyone involved in this event and our partners as well as Nigerian people will know that this is a magnifying showcase.”
Peters while giving his candid thoughts on the football culture in Nigeria, “No other words comes to mind as its one of a kind, it’s almost like football and the way its played. A lot of Nigerians have the ability, skills and showcase themselves in the positive ways. Also the people, fans, love, support, passion, including the audience it goes beyond and its marvelous, as no one can replicate that.”
The 21-year-old striker has netted twice in seven appearances in the league so far this season with his last goal being in August versus Sint Truiden.
