- Awards membership to two students

Two pioneer Mass Communication students of Prime University, Abuja, Ms. Idara Udofia and Jennifer Okoye, have earned automatic membership of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, courtesy of its President , Dr. Ike Neliaku.
The inaugural Prime University students won the award when the leadership of NIPR visited the campus to engage with management on areas of collaboration.
Ms. Udofia and Ms. Okoye opted to chart career paths in public relations and broadcasting respectively. Udofia has therefore been appointed by the NIPR President to serve as coordinator of the students membership wing at Prime University.
Both students were highly elated by this great opportunity in their career as young Mass Communicators.
“It was indeed a greatly unexpected privilege to meet and freely interact with leaders in our chosen industry, very early in our professional journey,” they noted.
“It’s uncommon to secure the chance on such a platter of gold. It was even more heartwarming that we have been given the free hand to coordinate the students membership drive at Prime University. This is one opportunity we shall live to remember and would strive hard to do our best in meeting NIPR’s expectations,” they added.
Dr. Neliaku paid tribute to the institution’s guiding philosophy of creating a sustainable platform for incubating the future of Nigerian youth.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Muhammad Mainoma extolled the professionalism and excellence with which NIPR was noted over the years.
Both leaders agreed to escalate a mutually rewarding relationship between NIPR and the university in the areas of professional training and capacity building, curriculum development, membership facilitation, program accreditation by regulatory bodies, students recruitment and more.
Idara Udofia and Jennifer Okoye will be officially inducted as student members during the diamond jubilee anniversary of NIPR on June 20, 2024. The induction ceremony would confer on the students lifelong membership of the institute.
President Neliaku also broke the cheery news that NIPR membership is never media~centric but open to all professionals from all works of life. In addition to students, Dr. Neliaku invited academic and administrative staff as well as management to join the NIPR family, which accepts and accommodates membership from all professions.
Dr. Neliaku and his delegation were especially excited about the serenity of the campus environment and its career~oriented philosophy, which is focused on preparing professionals, statesmen and business leaders, who will become employers of labour and not merely potential employees.
Registrar of the University, Tahir Abba P.Hd introduced the management team, staff and students of Mass Communication department to the NIPR delegation.
Director of Information and Public Relations of the University, Sir Chibuike Casmir Chiedo described the established synergy between Prime University and NIPR as one that holds various positive prospects for both institutions.
On the team of NIPR delegation included also the Vice President and Vice Chairman of the Council, Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura, the Registrar of the Institute, Uzoma Onyegbadue, Director of Public Relations, Mr Stanley Ogadigo, Council Member, Bunmi Badejo among others.
