As part of its 35th anniversary celebrations, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Federal Capital Territory Chapter is centering its milestone year around giving back to the community with a series of impactful initiatives focused on environmental sustainability, education, and youth empowerment.
Speaking at a press briefing held at the NIPR FCT Chapter Secretariat at Bolingo Hotel, Chairman Stanley Ogadigo, emphasised the chapter’s commitment to societal development. “This anniversary is not about celebrating ourselves; it is about giving back to the society that has nurtured us,” Ogadigo stated. “Through tree planting, book donations, student competitions, and academic awards, we are sowing seeds for a greener, more knowledgeable, and empowered future.”
Highlighting the environmental campaign, Ogadigo announced the official unveiling of the Flame of the Forest tree as the Reputation Tree of Abuja Vegetation on November 19. This initiative, done in partnership with the Abuja Parks and Recreation Department, includes tree planting at the Wuye Interchange Loops, symbolising the chapter’s dedication to sustainability and a greener Abuja.
Education and youth development are also key highlights of the CSR agenda. After the tree planting, the chapter will donate public relations books to the National Assembly Library to enhance resources for students and researchers. The chapter has also engaged young minds through an essay, debate, and paper presentation competition involving seven schools, alongside recently inaugurated public relations and leadership clubs in secondary schools across FCT.

“We believe nurturing young minds through knowledge and opportunity is essential to building the future of communication and leadership in Nigeria,” Ogadigo explained.
Complementing this, the chapter will award prizes to the best graduating Mass Communication students across FCT tertiary institutions to encourage academic excellence.
The anniversary month also includes professional workshops on cutting-edge topics like artificial intelligence and digital reputation management, illustrating the chapter’s blend of honoring legacy while pushing for innovation.
“By giving back meaningfully, we reaffirm our role as stewards of strategic communication for national development,” Ogadigo said, urging all stakeholders to support the cause of nation branding.
The celebration’s grand finale on November 27 will honor those who have contributed to Abuja’s growth through an Anniversary Conference, Annual General Meeting, and Awards Dinner, attended by top government and industry leaders.
