Nigeria’s Featherweight star, Patrick ‘Starboi’ Ocheme will headline Professional Fighters League’s first-ever PFL Africa semifinals as the continent’s elite fighters compete for a spot in the Tournament Finals, that will see the promotion crown its first African champions in Benin at the end of the year.
After two groundbreaking events in Cape Town and Johannesburg, finalists of the inaugural PFL Africa Tournament will be decided at the semifinal bouts across the four divisions: Heavyweight, Welterweight, Featherweight, and Bantamweight as the tournament heads to Kigali in Rwanda.
PFL Africa semifinals will take place Saturday, October 18 at BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda, the organisation announced on Monday, August 25, saying the event marks the biggest MMA competition ever to take place in East Africa, underscoring Rwanda’s growing reputation as a premier destination for world-class sports and entertainment.
Headlining the evening, Nigeria’s ‘Star Boi’ Ocheme who delivered a masterclass at the quarterfinal bout in Johannesburg earning a decision victory over Guinea’s Mohamed Camara will face Burkina Faso’s Abdoul Razac Sankara in a Featherweight semifinal main event.
Their meeting pits Ocheme’s steady composure and experience against Sankara’s explosive finishing power, with a place in the 145-pound Finals hanging in the balance.
This will no doubt be an opportunity for Ocheme to make Nigeria proud and show the world that the most populous country in Africa is also home to some of the best MMA artists on the globe.
Winners of the semifinal bouts will advance to the finals in Benin where PFL will crown the first-ever African Champions in the Heavyweight, Welterweight, Featherweight, and Bantamweight divisions at the end of this year.
