The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) has announced its upcoming 44th Annual International Conference, set to take place from July 22 to July 27, 2025, in the vibrant city of Awka, Anambra State. Themed “Technology Integration, Personalized Care: The Future of Community Pharmacy Practice,” the event aims to revolutionize Nigeria’s healthcare landscape through innovation and patient-centered approaches.
Led by National Chairman Pharm. Ezeh Ambrose Igwekamma, the conference will gather over 3,000 delegates, including pharmacists, healthcare professionals, policymakers, researchers, and industry stakeholders from Nigeria and beyond. The gathering will feature keynote speeches, workshops, exhibitions, and cultural celebrations—all designed to foster collaboration and advance pharmacy practice.
A major focus of the event will be combating the rising menace of fake and substandard medicines and food products in Nigeria—a challenge that has resurged in recent years, threatening public health and safety. The conference will highlight efforts to strengthen regulatory frameworks, promote the adoption of digital health solutions, and enhance personalized pharmaceutical care.
In his statement, Pharm. Igwekamma emphasized the importance of embracing technological innovations, such as telepharmacy, electronic health records, and artificial intelligence, to improve service delivery. “Our goal is to reposition community pharmacies as vital pillars of Nigeria’s healthcare system, leveraging technology and personalized care to meet the evolving needs of our population,” he said.
The event promises engaging activities, including a walk against counterfeit medicines, leadership roundtables, an exhibition expo showcasing cutting-edge healthcare solutions, and a cultural night to celebrate Nigeria’s rich heritage.
The ACPN and the government of Anambra State have expressed strong support for the conference, viewing it as a pivotal step toward building a resilient, innovative, and patient-focused pharmacy practice across Nigeria.
As Nigeria faces ongoing challenges with counterfeit drugs and unregulated drug outlets, the ACPN urges all stakeholders to join this crucial dialogue and action plan. Together, they aim to forge a safer, smarter, and more compassionate healthcare future for Nigeria.
