Nigerians must unite beyond ethnicity, religion – Bishop Nwachukwu

By Vera Wisdom-Bassey

The Presiding Bishop of Rhema Deliverance Ministry, Abuja, Bishop Chigozie Nwachukwu, has called on Nigerians to rise above the divisions of ethnicity, tribalism, nepotism, and religion to rebuild the country.

He made the call at the church branch in Iba-Ojo, while speaking with journalists on national unity and governance.

Nwachukwu lamented that the mistakes of Nigeria’s founding fathers had hindered the nation’s progress and urged citizens not to repeat them.

“What destroyed this nation from the beginning were ethnicity, tribalism, nepotism, and religion. These began in 1960 during the time of our founding fathers,” he stated.

The cleric emphasised that true development could only be achieved if Nigerians unite and work together with sincerity of purpose.

“It is time to forget our differences and focus on building the country. Nigeria can only stand strong when we act as one people,” he added.

Nwachukwu also commended President Bola Tinubu for his courage in implementing difficult but necessary reforms. He lauded the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, for transforming Abuja through visible infrastructural development.

“I am not a fan of Tinubu, but I must be sincere; the kind of reform he is doing can only be carried out by someone willing to sacrifice his popularity. Having lived in Abuja for 25 years, I can now see visible changes. Under the last administration, there was no significant development. But in just two years, Wike has changed the face of the city.”

He noted that Tinubu appeared determined to fix the nation and deserved support from Nigerians.

“I feel for Tinubu because he sincerely wants to change the narrative. Let’s give him a chance to succeed,” he added.
