Nigerian Newspapers: Major stories on Monday

APC flag

Good morning to our readers. Daily Sun brings you the major stories from Nigerian Newspapers:

  1. APC risks anti-party revolt from trapped, disgruntled aspirants. The All Progressives Congress (APC) is sitting on a keg of political gunpowder. Unless the party’s national leadership, and by extension, the presidency, act swiftly and decisively, the ruling party faces the real prospect of a coordinated internal revolt that could significantly damage its electoral fortunes in the 2027 general elections.
  2. Marketers fight Dangote over plans to block petrol import permits. A fresh crisis is brewing in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector over a lawsuit instituted by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery asking the court to nullify import permits issued or renewed by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) and marketers.
  3. Banks under pressure to turn N4.65trn capital, profits into real growth. After two years of chasing new funds, meeting tough regulations and pitching to investors, pressure is now building on banks to make better use of their profits before the next earnings season, Daily Sun findings show.
  4. Terror attacks: Yorubaland under siege, says Afenifere. Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has raised the alarm over what it described as a coordinated wave of terror attacks across the South West geopolitical zone, declaring that Yorubaland is now effectively under siege.
  5. Outrage over high Lagos airport parking fees. Passengers and visitors to the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) have continued to fume over a 150 per cent hike in parking fees, describing the increase as excessive and frustrating.
