Nigerian Customs seizes N13m pms bound for Cameroon

The Adamawa and Taraba Area Command of the Nigerian Customs has   nabbed some people smuggling about N13m worth of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to Cameroon.

The command said it also seized a cache of unregistered and expired foreign alcoholic drinks including Vodka, Bullet and some expired juice being smuggled across the border.

This was made known by the Adamawa and Taraba Area Controller of Customs, Abdullahi Kazaure, during a press conference at the command’s headquarters in Yola, Adamawa State.

Kazaure said the command was determined in its crackdown on smuggling activities across the Nigerian border, vowing that it would not rest on its oars until it brought down the activities of smugglers to zero.

The Customs boss said his officers and men were aware of the new tactics adopted by the criminals, pledging that  the service would continue evolve to ensure a total clampdown on smuggling activities within the area.

“The command has repositioned all machineries across all its territorial borders in collaboration with other sister agencies towards achieving the core mandate of the service.

“The command within the period under review, has recorded 15 incidents of seizures of assorted items with a commutative Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N13, 352,100.

“The seized item included the following, 16,675 litres of of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) packed in 643 x 25l jerry cans  and 3x 200l drums, a 20 x 50 kg bags of foreign parboiled rice and about one used volz wagon Golf with a big reconstructed fuel tank.
