Niger State Police Command has arrested over 713 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and rapists. It rescued 37 victims and recovered ammunition in Tafa Local Government. Commissioner of Police, Ebenezer Danmamman, said: “The command has been very proactive in addressing challenges of crime. We put in place adequate crime preventive measures and most especially effective partnership and engagement with critical stakeholders and they are yielding good results.

“The command prosecuted over 680 while the remaining suspects are under investigation and awaiting trial. Also, 37 kidnapped victims were rescued at different locations within the year.

“The Police Division, Kpakungu, arrested six suspected armed robbers at Darulsalam, Minna. They recovered 126 bags of maize, 386 bags of millet, 25 grinding machines and 104 spraying machines valued at over N20 million.

“The Police Crack Squad (PCS) operatives attached to Kontagora Area Command, Nasko Division, arrested two suspected kidnappers and rescued victims at Chincha forest.

“Operatives arrested three suspects at Dikko Junction and intercepted a Golf vehicle. Over 70 illegal artisan miners within Shiroro, Rafi, Paiko, Katcha and Chanchaaga local governments were arrested.

“The A Division, Minna, arrested three suspected armed robbers, who specialised in breaking shops and burgling of goods. The goods included clothing materials, electronics, provisions and iron scraps worth over N2 million.
