Niger Delta Young Leaders, at the weekend, have backed restructuring of Nigeria, insisting it would solve the problems current rocking the country.

The group, which made its position known at a meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, also dissociated the South-south from agitation for Biafra Republic.

Convener of the meeting, Moses Siasia, said the group has collectively agreed that the country should be restructured.

“What we want is 100 per cent resource control and true federalism.”

According to him, a situation where Bayelsa state has eight local government areas and another state in the North has over 40 and ‘’we are sharing our own resources. They get more than South-south state and they are saying the country does not need restructuring.”

Siasia, who is also the president, Nigeria Young Professionals, said decisions reached at the meeting are based on issues affecting the region and the group met to take a common position.

The former president, Rivers Youths Association, Victor Briggs, categorically stated that the region is not part of the ongoing agitation for Biafra.
