The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will on Friday, December 12, arraign the immediate past Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
A credible source at the commission informed our correspondent that the former Governor of Anambra State has been in detention since Wednesday, December 10, 2025, following his arrest at his Asokoro residence in Abuja.
According to the source, the arrest is linked to alleged inconsistencies in contract awards during his tenure in office.
The source added that the former minister has been “responding to questions” as investigators continue to scrutinise documents and approvals issued while he served in the President Muhammadu Buhari government.
“He was picked up from his Asokoro home yesterday and has been in our custody since then,” the source said,.
The source further noted that the commission was set to present him before a Federal High Court judge on Friday.
The arraignment is expected to formally open a case into suspected procurement breaches allegedly carried out during his time in office.
This came a few days after the immediate past Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, was also drilled over similar financial irregularities while he served under the same administration.
