The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially fixed Saturday, September 26, 2026, as the date for its next Elective Congress, with Lafia, Nasarawa State, confirmed as host city.

The decision was one of the key resolutions reached at the NFF Extraordinary General Assembly, where delegates unanimously approved the proposal put forward by the Executive Committee.

The forthcoming congress is expected to shape the future leadership of Nigerian football, with stakeholders across the country set to converge in Lafia to elect officials who will steer the game for the next cycle.

In a related development, the Congress ratified the composition of the NFF Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee, with members drawn from the six geopolitical zones. The committees are scheduled to be inaugurated in Abuja on March 25, 2026, in line with provisions of the NFF Electoral Code.

Further strengthening its governance framework, the Congress also approved amendments to the NFF Statutes (March 2026 Edition), as well as updates to the Electoral Code and Standing Orders of the General Assembly.

Delegates also endorsed the appointment of global audit firm Ernst & Young as the new Independent Auditor of the federation for an initial four-year term, following a rigorous selection process. The Congress commended PricewaterhouseCoopers for its nine-year service to the body.

The Assembly concluded with a unanimous vote of confidence in the NFF Executive Committee led by President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, backing its ongoing efforts to develop football across Nigeria.

Earlier in the proceedings, the Congress observed a minute’s silence in honour of late football figures, including former Super Eagles coach Adegboye Onigbinde and ex-Nigeria captain Henry Nwosu.
