New platform to simplify digital payments for businesses launched

Success Ilevbareose and Abijah Johnnie of FalconPay

For many small and medium-sized businesses in Nigeria, managing daily transactions can come with significant operational challenges—from delayed transfers and payment verification issues to financial infrastructure that struggles to keep pace with growing transaction volumes.

For Success Ilevbareose and Abijah Johnnie, the challenges they faced became the foundation for building FalconPay.

Success Ilevbareose, who has experience in commercial operations at Bills Construction and Enterprise, as well as running his own business, encountered many of these challenges firsthand.

“Every delayed transaction isn’t just a technical glitch; it’s a lost sale or a damaged relationship for a small vendor,” Ilevbareose explained.

These experiences inspired him to explore how technology could enhance the reliability of everyday financial transactions for businesses and their customers. He eventually teamed up with his colleague Johnnie, a software engineer with experience in building payment APIs, virtual card systems, and USSD infrastructure for platforms like PayPaddi and Yaada.

For Johnnie, the challenge was both technical and operational.

“Building for Nigeria’s market requires infrastructure that prioritises speed while ensuring security and regulatory compliance,” he stated.

Technology and product design have remained central to the company’s development. To enhance the product team, the founders brought in Abdulrasheed Muhsin, FalconPay’s Chief Product Designer, who has a diverse background in fashion design and technology. His focus is on making complex financial services easier to navigate for users with varying levels of digital experience.

Together, the founders developed FalconPay as a financial technology platform aimed at improving payments and financial infrastructure in the Nigerian market.

FalconPay began customer-facing operations in May 2025 and has since developed services for both individual customers and businesses. The fintech platform provides individuals and businesses with digital payment tools, bill payment services, virtual accounts, and API infrastructure for collections and disbursements.

For consumers, FalconPay provides a mobile application that allows users to send and receive money, pay bills, and manage everyday financial transactions from their phones, giving customers access to multiple everyday financial services through a single application.

For businesses, FalconPay provides payment infrastructure designed to support collections, disbursements, and transaction management. Businesses can access APIs for bill payment, collections, and disbursements, enabling them to integrate financial services directly into their own platforms and operational systems. The company also provides virtual accounts and dedicated OTC banking solutions for businesses with higher transaction volumes.

FalconPay delivers these services through relationships with licensed financial institutions and regulated service providers, allowing it to build its technology layer around existing financial infrastructure while focusing on the user experience and operational needs of its customers.

The company is also developing an agency banking framework to extend access to financial services in communities where traditional banking infrastructure may be less accessible. The initiative involves onboarding, training, and supervising local agents within applicable regulatory requirements.

For the founders, the broader objective is to address practical problems faced by Nigerians participating in an increasingly digital economy.

As digital payments and financial technology continue to expand across Nigeria and the wider West African market, FalconPay is positioning itself around a simple proposition: making everyday financial transactions more accessible, dependable, and easier for businesses and individuals to manage.

For Ilevbareose and Johnnie, the journey is ultimately about building financial technology around the realities of the people and businesses using it.
