The Kano State office of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency( NDLEA) has led thousands of drug reduction crusaders on a sensitisation walk across the metropolitan area of the state.
The anti-drug sensitisation walk, which featured scores of youth corps members, different non-governmental organisations working against drug abuse and sister security organisations, took off from the state headquarters of the agency, along Airport Road, through Murtala Mohammed Way to Hadejia Road and back.
Speaking to Daily Sun about the enlightenment campaign, NDLEA Deputy Director Habibu Shehu Khalifa explained that the aim of the roadshow was to sensitise residents of the state on the dangers of drug abuse and the need to stay away from drugs.
He expressed hope that the sensitisation would result in a major change of hearts among drug suppliers and consumers in the state.

He affirmed that drug abuse had been on a decline in the state following multi-prong approaches they adopted to rid the state of both consumers and suppliers of drugs.
Khalifha expressed gratitude to their partner in the fight against drug abuse, COPAC Nigeria Limited, (manufacturers of Alabukun Powder), even as he recalled that the company sponsored a similar anti-drug abuse campaign in the state, two years
He said that all hands must, therefore, be on deck to relieve the state and the nation of hard drugs
Marketing Manager of COPAC Nigeria Limited, David Temitope said the sensitisation exercise was very successful while expressing optimism that its multiplier effects would soon begin to manifest in the state
He said that partnering with NDLEA was yet another way of giving back to society as part of their Cooperate Social Responsibility to Nigerians as a whole.
