The Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF has denied releasing any list of invited players to the national team ahead of the forthcoming FIBA AfroBasket Women championship holding in Bamako, Mali.

Secretary General of the NBBF, Chimezie Asiegbu in a release on Tuesday debunked the invitation of players for the championship stressing that the federation is in touch with players and would make a formal announcement as regards the AfroBasket championship in Mali in due course. The release read in part: “Our attention has been drawn to an illegal list of invited players by the NBBF circulating in the media that no such list was released to that effect.

“Preparation for the FIBA Women AfroBasket 2017 championship is ongoing but we have not released any list. We kindly request that any list that is not emanating from the secretariat of the NBBF is not authentic and as such should be disregarded.”

Former D’ Tigers captain, Olumide Oyedeji had in communiqué he signed listed 22 players for a training camp scheduled to begin on the 23rd of July. Oyedeji stated that the camping would be supervised by a three-man coaching staff headed by Scott Nnaji.
