Naval boss hails impact of specialised courses in training school

The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Naval Training Command, Rear Admiral Patrick Nwatu, has hailed the impact of specialised courses designed to inspire members of the Nigerian Navy to greater heights.

Nwatu, made the disclosure on Tuesday, at the combined graduation ceremony and student ratings of the Nigerian Navy, who engaged themselves in specialised courses capable of promoting the image of the force.

Expressing satisfaction at the graduation ceremony organised by Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) QUORRA, Nwatu hinted that the 20 weeks training will help strengthen personnel of the force and inspire others willing to join for the betterment of the force.

He said: “What is witnessed today is the convocation of over 20 weeks training of naval officers and they’ve developed within the short time. We are glad we built professionalism in the course of this training. It’s a good thing which helps eradicate insecurity in the country.

“Having gone through a programme like this, it will give them the morale to meet the task assigned to them. The future is bright for them and having made the requirements, it will give them confidence on the field.”

Similarly, the Commandant, Nigerian Navy Ship QUORRA, Commodore A. Yahaya, highlighted the advantages of the programme, which welcomed 296 entries and celebrated 281.

“It’s clear that discipline, hard work, and determination are what pushed you through and must remain part of you, which is certainly one of the core values of the Nigerian Navy. I wish to remind you that based on the knowledge you’ve acquired, the force will be expecting more from you. We’ll be waiting to see some changes in your approach to work. I, therefore, believe that you’ve learnt a lot that would help you to function in the next phase of your career.

“I, hereby, urge you to make integrity your watchword. Additionally, we are also making an effort to ensure that training in the NNS will be more standard than before,” he said.

The NNS Quorra specialised causes includes NDS, CITS, CTS, PTS, NNCS (RROT) and NDIATS.
