- We recorded 100 Compliance – NLC, TUC

The Chairman of Trade Union (TUC) in Niger state, Comrade Ibrahim Gana and that the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Abdulkarerm Lafene have said there was 100% compliance by both Federal and State workers on the ongoing nationwide strikes in the state.
Both the federal and the state Secretariat, hospitals, Banks and other public offices remained shut as the organized labour move round the state capital, Minna to ensure full compliance by workers.
The organized labour had in a statement on Sunday evening jointly signed by the two labour leaders in the state to inform the state government of their intention join the nationwide strike action.
As early as 7:00am, the organized labour had sealed the entrance gates of all government offices including hospitals and Banks, and turning back workers who had earlier reported for duty.
Comrade Abdulkarerm Lafene and Ibrahim Gana, while briefing newsmen shortly after going round to monitor compliance in Minna, the state capital expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance from the public civil servants
According to them, members of the organised labour did not have to struggle with civil servants in their offices this time around unlike in the past when some workers will defied labours directives, stressing that “this goes to show that Nigerians are really pressed to the wall”.
They maintained that”this is one of the fantastic strike we have ever had, the level of compliance is 100% we didn’t have to struggle with people in their offices this time around.
“just a circular we released that workers should comply with national directive of nationwide strike, both NLC and TUC and virtually everywhere we have gone, we have seen 100% compliance”.
They said it is an indication that workers are beginning to listen to the labour leaders and also understanding the yearnings of the union in the country.
He said both Federal and State organisations complied with the strike and vowed that the strike will continue in the state until the union received further directives from the national body in Abuja.
Places shut down by labour leaders General Hospital Minna, Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Federal Inland Revenue and the Niger State High Court.
Other places visited by the labour officials are the Niger state House of Assembly, the State Secretariat, Office of the Secretary to the Niger State Government and Office of the Niger State Deputy Governor.
