The Arieli Foundation for Maternal and Child Health has strengthened its global advocacy efforts on maternal and child survival, following its participation at the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) held at the United Nations.

Executive Director of the foundation, Dr. Natasha Oyibo, represented the organisation at the high-level gathering, which brought together global leaders, policymakers and development partners to address pressing challenges affecting women and girls.

Deliberations at the session focused on dismantling financial barriers, promoting women’s leadership and accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Oyibo also participated in strategic engagements, including discussions at the African Union Permanent Observer Mission, where issues around women’s political participation and equitable access to resources were examined. At an NGO/CSW high-level briefing, stakeholders underscored the urgency of stronger partnerships and coordinated action to advance women’s health and empowerment globally.

Speaking on the outcome of the engagement, Oyibo stressed the need to align grassroots realities with global policy frameworks. She noted that community-level interventions must shape international strategies, while global commitments should translate into measurable impact for women and children.
Meanwhile, the foundation is set to host its annual Maternal and Child Health Walk, a community-focused initiative designed to raise awareness on the need for accessible, affordable and quality healthcare for women and children.

The event is expected to attract healthcare professionals, community leaders, families and advocates, providing a platform to amplify grassroots voices and promote preventive healthcare, maternal wellbeing and child survival.

According to the organisers, the initiative will also serve as a call for stronger collaboration among communities, policymakers and key stakeholders to improve health outcomes.
The Arieli Foundation for Maternal and Child Health is a non-profit organisation committed to reducing maternal and child mortality through advocacy, community outreach, health education and strategic partnerships.
