Mr Joshua Zheyekpuwudu, the local government council chairman of Obi, has been arrested by the Department of State Security Service (DSS) for being in possession of fake ballot papers, money, and other items suspected to be for voter inducement at the polling units.

The arrest reportedly took place at the DSS checkpoint in Tudun Kauri, Lafia, the state capital on Saturday morning.

According to eyewitness reports, the council boss was arrested at a checkpoint alongside some of his aides.

The DSS also found other items in his possession, including packets of Maggi cubes and other items that were believed to be for voter inducement.

The arrest came as the governorship and Houses of Assembly elections were underway in some major places of Lafia.

As of the time of filing this report, the DSS were yet to release an official statement on the matter.
