Victims of flood disasters that are currently gnashing their teeth and wailing over their losses have been asked to wipe their tears as plans were afoot to ensure they get prompt settlement from insurance companies to ameliorate their suffering.

The assurance came from the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) through Mr Rasaaq Salami, its Head, Corporate Communications and Market Development.

According to him, “NAICOM sympathises with victims of recent flood disasters across the country and wants to assure all those insured against such misfortunes of the Commission’s commitment towards ensuring prompt settlement of their claims by insurance companies”.

Salami noted that the Commission exists to ensure excellent services are rendered to consumers of insurance products in the country.

Also assuring the flood victims of support is the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), who told policyholders to approach their insurance firms to get promptly compensated.

Speaking on the development, the Assistant General Manager, Corporate Services of NAIC, Magdalene Omosimua said: “NAIC sympathises with flood victims in the country. The corporation shares the pains and agony of victims and stands with them during this trying period.

“As a responsive organisation, we are using this medium to assure our insured clients that their genuine claims will be given utmost urgent attention to enable them to go back to living their normal productive lives.

“NAIC wishes to advise that property and business endeavours of our citizens be promptly insured to guarantee the sustainability of existing jobs, income stabilisation, food security, poverty alleviation and wealth creation.”
