The free and peaceful conduct of the 2027 Osun governorship elections is a clear demonstration of the desire of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to deepen the democratic culture and practice in Nigeria.
Reflecting on the outcome of the Governorship election in Osun State, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso has said that though they lost at the polls, the exercise has demonstrated the administration’s commitment to free and fair elections.
He stressed that the Tinubu administration was fully committed to the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)and would never interfere it its discharge of its assignment.
Kwankwaso, who is the Director of Finance, Hadejia Jamma’re River Basin Development Authority, expressed optimism that the forthcoming 2027 general elections will witness a similar case of non – interference.
Kwankwaso also dispelled enormous claims that the President has not done enough for the North saying the projects and the attention given to Northerners by President Tinubu is amazing.
He listed some of the projects in the region in the last three years to include improved security which has led to farmers returning to their farms and IDPs returning homes in many areas of the region, the construction of 1,400 kilometer roads, the award of the Sokoto -Badagry Super Highway, AKK gas project, metropolitan rail, among others.
“ All of these projects are evidence that the region is receiving significant attention under the current administration” he stated, while insisting that President Tinubu and the APC deserved a second tenure in office
