To mitigate risks and stimulate economic growth, the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has partnered with the Federal Fire Service.

This effort seeks to enhance safety protocols, reduce potential hazards, and create a more secure environment for businesses and communities.

By joining forces, the two organisations aim to bolster the nation’s resilience, ensuring a safer future that supports sustainable economic development.

As a vital member of the committee overseeing insurance for public buildings and structures under construction, the Federal Fire Service has joined forces with NAICOM at its headquarters to incorporate Fire Insurance Policy into their comprehensive checklist. This strategic partnership is designed to enhance compliance, ensure adherence to insurance regulations, and drive greater insurance penetration across Nigeria.

The collaboration promises to yield significant benefits, including smoother claims settlement for beneficiaries of building collapse victims, proactive risk mitigation, safeguarding of investments, and the promotion of sustainable economic growth. Through this alliance, both organizations aim to create a more secure and resilient built environment, fostering long-term stability for the nation’s infrastructure and economy.

A statement from NAICOM highlighted that this collaboration aims to significantly boost awareness and the adoption of insurance products among building owners and developers. It seeks to proactively address and mitigate potential risks related to building collapses and other associated hazards, while also contributing to Nigeria’s broader economic growth. Through enhanced insurance coverage, the initiative is expected to foster increased investments, job creation, and financial stability across the nation.

The meeting, which marked a pivotal moment in this partnership, was led by the Deputy Commissioner for Finance and Administration, Mr. Ekerete Ola Gam-Ikon. In his address, he underscored the critical role that the collaboration between NAICOM and the Federal Fire Service will play in fostering a safer and more insured environment across Nigeria. He emphasised that this alliance represents a significant step toward strengthening the nation’s infrastructure, ensuring the protection of investments, and laying the foundation for long-term economic stability.
