The family of two abducted medical doctors is struggling to raise the N100 million ransom demanded by their captors and has appealed to the general public for financial support.
The two brothers, Dr Abu Babatunde Momoh and Dr Abu Tahir Momoh, were kidnapped on January 2 along City Pride Road, Igbira Camp, Auchi, while attempting to access their residence.
Tragically, the younger brother has since been killed in captivity.
“With teary eyes and a heavy heart, I appeal to the public for prayers, support, and financial assistance during this extremely painful time,” said Dr Abu Babatunde Momoh’s wife, describing the profound emotional trauma the family is enduring.
She confirmed that her husband and his brother, Dr Abu Tahir Momoh, were forcibly taken from their residence by armed men, who later contacted the family with the substantial ransom demand.
According to the family, every contribution, no matter how small, could help secure the surviving doctor’s release.

In response to the abduction, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Edo State chapter, has threatened to suspend medical services across the state in protest and to demand improved security for healthcare workers.
The Association expressed deep concern over the rising insecurity in Edo State, particularly the increasing targeting of medical professionals.
Meanwhile, friends and colleagues of the abducted doctor have continued to circulate the family’s appeal across social media platforms, calling for urgent intervention.
