Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has said that his obligation is to ensure that Edo State benefits from the dividends of democracy of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Tinubu administration just as he said he would represent Edo North as well.

Oshiomhole stated this during the post inauguration/thank you party hosted in his honour by friends and wellwishers at his country home, Iyamho, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

He particularly thanked the Afemai people for the honour done him by voting for him as a senator in the February 25 general elections.

His words: “There were sitting governors who contested for the Senate across the country and many of them lost. I left office seven years ago and my people still honoured me with victory. How can I thank you enough,” Oshiomhole said.

He said he understood clearly the message of the people, which was in two folds. First, they are grateful people contrary to what one or two persons may do from Afemai land that Afemai people are basically good people and of good nature adding that the sins of one man does not represent the spirit of others in the senatorial district.

Secondly, that they would want him to repeat what he did before as governor or nothing less probably to do more and assured them that he would not do anything less when he gets to Abuja.

The senator also thanked the people for the overwhelming votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the elections.

“During the campaign, I told you if you want to give me one vote give it to Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I said to you it was better he won as a president even if I lost as senator than for me to win as senator and he loses as president. In the end I’m very proud to say and to repeat here today and now that in each of these six local governments, every ward Bola Ahmed Tinubu won, every ward Adams Oshiomhole won.

“In Etsako land, everywhere Anamero won, today I can say I will proudly carry the results of Afemai people and I will say Mr. President this is my certificate, my people voted for you.”

While thanking Hon. Dennis Idahosa and Hon. Billy Osawaru for delivering their respective constituencies to Tinubu, he, however, assured the people that the President would change the face of Nigeria and make Edo State better even than Lagos.

He particularly thanked the Benin people as he said he will never forget the record set by thenm in 2012 when he contested for his 2nd term, saying that the people voted for him and he won all the 77 wards in Benin kingdom, saying nobody had ever enjoyed such trust and confidence.

He urged Hon. Idahosa and Hon. Osawaru to take the message home that he will represent Edo North but has obligation to Edo State.

Oshiomhole said: “If you had voted against me, I don’t know my blood pressure will now be 240/160 that is if I’m still alive because the jubilations by the opponent would have been such that they will come and lock my small door and break my small bones, but you said no.” he emphasized.

He said the president has a particular interest in Edo State noting that right from the primaries Edo people were with him through Edo State delegates and in the election, Edo people were still with him with the manner they all voted, so he is very appreciative.
