My Administration Burdened with Debts from Last Govt – Fubara

  • Vows to Talk at Appropriate Time

From Tony John, Port Harcourt

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has disclosed that his administration inherited significant debts from the previous government, including unpaid balances for projects that were commissioned but not fully paid for.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Indorama-Agbonchia-Ogale-Ebubu-East-West Road in Eleme, Fubara stated, “For most of the projects that were being commissioned, they (contractors) are coming for their balance payment. And it is running in millions and billions.”

He emphasized that the Indorama-Agbonchia-Ogale-Ebubu-East-West Road project, awarded for N6.7 billion, was fully paid for by his administration. He presented a white paper as evidence of the project’s completion and payment.

Fubara expressed frustration with the constant pressure to address the previous administration’s financial shortcomings, stating, “I have said that I don’t want to talk. I didn’t want to talk because I was part of that system. But, when you keep pushing me to talk, I will say it so that you see the buttocks of the fowl. Let us leave that until when we are ready.”

He acknowledged the challenges faced by the Eleme people and pledged to bring the dividends of good governance to all citizens of the state.

Abia State Governor Alex Otti, who commissioned the road, commended Fubara’s leadership and urged Rivers people to continue supporting his administration. He emphasized that leadership is about service to the people and not to a select few.
