The Presidency has said the numerous Federal Government projects being executed in Imo State demonstrate the benefits of President Bola Tinubu’s decision to remove fuel subsidy.
Director of Media and Publicity of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), Tunde Rahman, stated this in Owerri during the RHA media tour of the state, yesterday.
Rahman assured states that yet to experience the full benefits of the subsidy removal that they would begin to do so soon.
“From all the projects we have seen so far, we can confirm the benefits of states aligning with the centre for the purpose of development.
“We have seen the Federal Government’s upgrade of the Teaching Hospital and the Alvan Ikoku College of Education in Owerri. As the Honourable Commissioner noted, these projects have created employment opportunities for the people of Imo State.
“We can also see that Governor Hope Uzodimma has undertaken projects that complement the Federal Government’s development agenda in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“There is also a TETFund-supported facility at the College of Education to facilitate the implementation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). These are indications that the Tinubu administration carefully considered its decision to remove fuel subsidy.

“The testimonies of governors in the states visited by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Media Tour confirm that the additional funds made available have enabled them to execute more developmental projects. States that are yet to experience the full benefits will do so in the near future.”
Earlier, Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, attributed the state’s landmark projects to the partnership between the state and the Federal Government.
He cited the upgrade of Alvan Ikoku College of Education to a Federal University of Education as one of the administration’s major achievements.
“Several administrations governed Imo State before now, but none was able to accomplish what Governor Hope Uzodimma has achieved.
“One notable example is the Alvan Ikoku College of Education, one of the oldest colleges of education in the country and one of the six institutions upgraded to Federal Universities of Education.
“Previous administrations attempted to secure the upgrade but were unsuccessful. We are delighted that it was achieved under Governor Uzodimma, and even happier that the Federal Government’s intervention has created employment opportunities.
“As we speak, the institution has advertised vacancies, and many of the beneficiaries will be indigenes of Imo State. The conversion has brought numerous benefits to the state, and we are grateful to the Federal Government for approving the upgrade,” he said.
