- 176 surrendered, 6 soldiers killed in action

The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has arrested 57 suspected terrorists during a special operation around the Lake Chad shores.
NNJTF Field Commander, Maj Gen Ibrahim Ali disclosed during a media briefing with journalists in Maiduguri, Borno’s capital on Tuesday.
“We have recorded the surrender of 176 terrorists and the arrest of 57 individuals involved in terrorist activities,” the commander disclosed.
Gen Ali said the special operation codenamed Operation Lake Sanity started on April 23 and involved troops from Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon.
He said the force recorded success with the arrest of 57 individuals suspected to have link with terrorists.
Besides, troops recovered cache of armaments, including 796 rounds of ammunition, one PKM machine gun, five AK-47 rifles, two motorcycles, and eight magazines and other logistic items according to the commander.
He said sadly, six troops were killed in action and some injured during the operation. He expressed the MNJTF “deepest condolences and prayers” for the eternal rest of the gallant soldiers
“Their bravery and sacrifice shall not be forgotten. We also pray for the quick recovery of the injured,” he said.
