Mr. President in cinemas today

A new Nollywood movie, Mr. President, will hit cinemas across Nigeria on Friday, March 8, and it stars the likes of comedian, Ayo Makun (AY) Toyin Abraham, Shirley Ann and Funky Mallam amog a host of others.

A statement from the producers said: “Mr. President was produced by Nollywood new entrant, Shirley Ann Ede, who is set to make a bold statement on Nigeria’s general elections. She is set to become the first woman to confront political issues using entertainment as a platform to drive her message. Shirley Ann Ede is a global thinker and a trailblazer who is ready to push Nollywood to global standards with the quality of her works.”

Powered by LIttle Brother Global Entertainment, Mr. President’s release coincides with Nigeria’s general election. Among others, the movie depicts how the president interrupts a football game to declare his intention to run for a second term. Several issues spring up to threaten his ambition as the cunning and hilarious games of politics begin to unfold. He must listen or ignore the advice of his cabinet to determine if he would lose or win the election against a formidable opposition party.

Executively produced by Dr. Christopher Ede, speaking, Shirley Ann Ede, who produced and also acted in the movie revealed that she will be the first African woman to make a movie about elections in Nigeria.

What we are doing with this movie is not just making a film but making a lasting statement which will resonate with many for a long time. It is true that the movie is entertaining but beyond that, it is also intriguing and revealing.”
