Maverick singer Charles Oputa, also known as Charly Boy, has criticised Nigerian Christian clergy, stating that 99 percent of them are more concerned with profiting from their churches than speaking truth to power.

In a recent episode of the KAA Truths podcast, the Area Fada crooner lambasted certain Nigerian pastors for their complicit silence in the face of the nation’s economic and security issues.

He accused the clergy of colluding with unscrupulous politicians to exploit the masses.

Charly Boy emphasised that despite residing in Nigeria, he doesn’t think or behave like most Nigerians and would not fall for the sanctimonious antics of some Nigerian pastors.

“All the pastors I know of in Nigeria, 99 per cent of them are useless. It is just a business that they are running,” he claimed.

“I may live in Nigeria but Nigeria does not live in me. I don’t believe like you. I don’t want to think like you people. I’m not in the same class with you people. I come from a different space and time,” he added.
