Minister of Innovation Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has charged stakeholders in the Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) ecosystem to redouble efforts in service delivery to meet up with President Bola Tinubu’s target of poverty reduction in the country.
Nnaji made the call, yesterday, in Abuja at a sectoral retreat on implementation of presidential priorities/ministerial deliverables system.
He said president Tinubu’s eight outlined priorities are vision of economic growth, adding that technology ministry will play a crucial role in the actualisation of the priorities.
“The eight presidential priorities outlined by our dear president are not mere concepts. They represent a clear and actionable vision that emphasises economic growth, social inclusion, infrastructural development, security, and good governance. Our ministry plays a crucial role in realising these priorities, especially through the advancement of STI.
“Achieving this requires hard work, dedication, and strong collaboration across the entire STI ecosystem. This retreat offers us the perfect opportunity to reflect on our progress, reassess our strategies, and renew our commitment to delivering on the high standards set by Mr. President.
“It also highlights the importance of having a robust performance management system that ensures transparency, accountability, and effective feedback mechanisms, allowing our efforts to translate into real benefits for the people.”
The minister, therefore, urged the stakeholders to harness their collective strength, work together to overcome obstacles, develop actionable plans, and deliver meaningful results.

Setting ambitious targets is important, but it is equally crucial to have systems in place to monitor our performance, learn from both successes and setbacks, and ensure continuous improvement.
“Nigeria is blessed with abundant talent and resources. By leveraging STI, we can unlock new opportunities for growth, create jobs, and enhance the quality of life for all Nigerians. The road ahead may be challenging, but it is also full of immense possibilities. The expectations placed upon us are high, and rightly so.
“However, I am confident with the right strategies, a spirit of collaboration, and a relentless focus on results, we can meet and exceed these expectations. I urge you all to engage actively, think creatively, and collaborate effectively to build the prosperous, inclusive, and resilient nation we all envision.
Earlier, in her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Esuabana Nko-Asanye, urged the participants to use the opportunity to align their strategies with refined approaches that will to drive the needed results.
She further called for collaboration among stakeholders, adding that it is only through this that president’s set targets can be achieved.
