Leaders of organised labour have spoken on the new minimum wage of N70,000 approved by President Bola Tinubu.

Daily Sun reported that the President’s aide Bayo Onanuga announced the approval on Thursday after a meeting with NLC and TUC leaders at the presidential villa.

Speaking at a media briefing after the announcement, Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), confirmed that the unions had accepted the offer.

According to him, the offer was accepted because of the incentives attached.

Speaking further, Ajaero disclosed that another reason labour unions accepted the new figure is because President Tinubu pledged a review every three years as against what was obtained in the past.
