Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Lagos West has concluded plans to hold its 2023 Annual Synod.
The three-day event coming up at Methodist Church Nigeria, Cathedral of Blessing, Palm Avenue, Mushin, Lagos will kick start tomorrow with both the ministerial and lay sessions.
Member-elect representing Mushin Constituent 2 in the Federal House of Assembly, Oluwatoyin Fayinka, is expected to declare the synod open during the opening ceremony on Saturday, April 22, while the synod would be rounded off with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, April 23 April at the same venue during the 10.00am service.
The church said theme for synod, “Contending for the faith,” has been prayerfully selected to challenge Christians to fight for what they believe in as children of God in order to turn around Nigeria to a country that would continue to experience peace in all ramifications.
Chief host of the Synod and Diocesan Bishop, Ezekiel Akande, said: “The promise of God to us as a nation and the whole world in general is to bring a total stoppage to all the calamities in our land, all natural disasters and self destructions around us and ultimately turn all our challenges to opportunities with the new things that God will do in our lives as his beloved children.
“As Methodist, we’ve challenged ourselves to take a position on how best we can add value to our immediate societies by bringing it to the front burner at this year’s synod of the diocese and pray for peace and togetherness among nations all over the world.”
