The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Mbata, has called on Igbo people across the world to bring their investments home, saying it would lead to the rapid development of Igboland.

Mbata made this call during the 2nd matriculation ceremony of Maduka University, Ekwegbe, in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, where 667 students were matriculated.

He said: “Let me congratulate the proprietor of this university for the huge investment you have made here. In Ohanaeze, we talk about Aku ruo ulo.

“We call upon all our people, wherever they may be on the surface of the earth, to also bring their investments home. Invest in our country and invest in our land.

“You can look at this environment where this university is located, and in my mind, I see what this place will look like in the next 20 years.

“Nobody will believe that this will transform into a major city just because of the location of this university here. So Ndigbo, please remember Aku ruo ulo.”

The Igbo leader urged the students to participate in school politics, as it would help them sharpen their leadership skills for future positions. On his part, the Chancellor of the institution, Dr Maduka Onyishi, said the university has explored the realities of training deficits in the nation’s educational institutions.

“These realities fuel our enthusiasm and commitment in joining other well-intentioned individuals and groups to think through the processes of creating the atmosphere for value-based education. Incidentally, this is the type of education that rides on the wings of entrepreneurship, which is our focus.

“As we march forward in our commitment to offer quality education, we are excited that our university has been well received by students, parents, and the public, as is evident in the growth rate we have recorded. We intend to continue to offer excellent service,” he said.
