• Says Nigerians are going through real hardship

The Niger State government has explained that the one year in office of the state Governor RT Hon Umar Mohammed Bago will be marked in a low-key due to the hardship being faced by Nigerians.

The government said though there is much to celebrate due to the remarkable achievements of the governor in the last one year, it decided not to embark on an elaborate celebration while Nigerians are going through real hardship.

Briefing newsmen in Minna on Monday as part of the activities to mark the governor’s one year in office, the commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Binta Mamman said that the state has witnessed a new era of progress and prosperity under the present administration, stressing that “from the reconstruction and expansion of crucial highways and township roads across the state such as the six lane Chanchaga expressway, Minna-Bida highway and the purchase of 1,000 High Tech Tractor”.

According to the commissioner, the vision for a thriving Niger State is coming to life as the governor unwavering commitment to turning the state around has led to remarkable upgrades and innovations which showcase his commitment and dedication to excellence.

“Notable amongst these includes infrastructural development, education, health, green economy initiative, transformation and renaming of the Minna airport to Bola Ahmed Tinubu international airport, purchasing of 200 CNG Buses to boost the transportation sector”.

Other achievements of the governor, the commissioner pointed out includes the conversation of the moribund five start Shiroro hotel into Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Teaching Hospital and the remodeling and equipping of the dilapidated IBB Specialized Hospital to meet the growing needs of the people of the state.

She maintained that though the celebration is low-key, activities lined up for the one year in office of the governor were kicked started with both Muslim and Christian special prayers held on Friday and Sunday throughout the state

She further that other activities will be the commissioning of of assorted state-of-art vehicles at the trade fair complex and a novelty football match between the executive and the legislature on Monday.

She assured the people of the of the commitment of the administration to the transformation of the state under the New Niger Agenda.
