Mass defection hits Niger APC

APC-4

From John Adams, Minna

Barely a week after an aspirant in the just-concluded Niger State gubernatorial primary on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mohammed Malagi, defected to the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) with his supporters, another mass defection has hit the ruling party.

No fewer than 5,000 members have, again, switched their loyalty to the Peoples Demanded Party (PDP).

Leading the defectors was a foundation member of APC and former chairman of Tafa Local Government, Ado Mohamed, and over 5,000 members from the council.

In a ceremony at the Sabo Wuse Central Primary School, headquarters of the local government, the defectors were received by PDP chairman, Tanko Beji and other members of the state working committee.

He thanked the former chairman, Mohamed, who, with his thousands of supporters, decided to “embrace light from darkness” ahead of the 2023 general election.

The PDP governorship running mate for the 2023 general election, Samuel Gomnna, who is also from the local government, was on hand to receive the defectors who described his emergence as a welcome development for the area.
