Mark Idiahi is the author of two books, The Navigator and Broken Wings, and is poised to launch his third book before the end of the year.
Idiahi recently launched his second book, Broken Wings via Zoom conference.
“I wanted my friends and family members in the diaspora to also participate at the event during the book launch, because they could participate holistically in the programme, and it turned out to be a successful book launch, and am excited about it,” said the author.
Idiahi is the convener of Future Leadership Conference. He wrote The Navigator in 2020. Idiahi recalled: “I was inspired to write that book, because I have worked with young people, and, by virtue of my interactions with the youth, I found out that there is a lacuna, which is that most young people lack mentorship. They lack someone who can offer them first hand strategy or inspiration that they need to navigate life’s vicissitudes.”
The Navigator is an inspirational book with insights to empower young people to navigate life’s decisions and become better citizens, role models or captains of industry.
The author’s second book, Broken Wings, has a captivating title, and is about loyalty which can make or mar a man. Said the author: “In today’s world where most people barely just want to survive, it is very difficult for you to look around and see people who are loyal. It is a critical element and component in leadership.
“For anyone to strive and build a reputation, you need people who can work with you and work for you, and they will be loyal. If you take loyalty away from that ecosystem, it becomes a feed off truce breakers and disloyal people, and you really cannot endure a legacy with people who are loyal.”
The author said his target audience were upwardly mobile individuals or the youths, for “anyone who still has aspirations to do more in life are the youths.” As he said, an individual is not old until he resigns himself to fate.
When asked when is the best time for him to write, he said: “I could be driving, and, when I get an inspiration or an idea, I write. Or I could wake from sleep and write. Or when I am watching a movie or reading a book or during interactions with my friends, I will stop to document it through voice recording. If I don’t do that, I can forget the idea and lose it.”
Idiahi revealed that reading had helped to shape his life, because “people are a product of their thinking, and their thinking can only be transformed by what they expose their mind to, especially quality materials like books.
He loves to read Bishop David Oyedepo and Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s books, because they are full of nuggets and inspirations.
The author is currently working on his third book, which will be launched during the Future Leadership Conference scheduled to take place before the end of the year. “It is a special work dedicated to Nigerians who are in incarceration. It will be part of the reform tool for the work that we do at the Second Chance Care Foundation, an NGO that is focused on prisoner reformation in the country,” he said.
