Kayfar Group, a prominent maritime advocacy organization, has secured a Board of Trustee (BOT) form for Dr. Farinto Kayode, the immediate past acting president of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA). This initiative aims to support Farinto’s participation in the upcoming BOT elections to reposition and revitalize the association.

During the presentation of the form in Apapa on Tuesday, Comrade Adeniyi Adelakun, Chairman of Kayfar Group, emphasized the need for capable leadership to advance ANLCA and the entire maritime sector. Adelakun highlighted Farinto’s dedication to serving the industry and his readiness to assist its members as key reasons behind their support.

“We need someone who can move ANLCA and the maritime sector forward,” Adelakun stated. “Farinto is known for his commitment to the industry and his willingness to serve. His vast experience and accessibility make him the right candidate for this role.”

Adelakun expressed confidence in Farinto’s ability to bring positive changes to ANLCA, which is currently facing numerous challenges. He stressed the urgent need for effective leadership to address these issues and restore order within the association.

In his acceptance speech, Farinto expressed gratitude to Kayfar Group for their support and confidence in his leadership. He acknowledged the group’s significant role in addressing cargo clearance issues for maritime industry members.

“Kayfar Group believes in me and took the initiative to secure the BOT form without my prior consent, despite my initial reluctance to re-engage in ANLCA politics,” Farinto remarked. “Their unwavering support compels me to reconsider my stance. Whatever I have achieved today is due to their backing, and I cannot ignore their call for leadership.”

Farinto assured that if elected, he would work towards clearly defining the roles of the Board and NECOM, resolving the ongoing issues within ANLCA. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and mutual support to ensure the association’s success.

“I will ensure that the Board functions as an advisory body to NECOM, and not overstep its boundaries,” Farinto stated. “With my inclusion, I believe NECOM will experience a period of peace and stability.”

He pledged to restore ANLCA to its former glory and support NECOM in achieving a clear sense of direction, should he be elected.
