Man O’ War inaugurates new exco

Man O’ War Nigeria, Lagos State Command, has inaugurated new elected officials that will run the affairs of the paramilitary organisation for the next four years.

This followed the expiration of the tenure of Charles Mbah, who handed over at the event to Lucky Onimowo, the new Lagos State Commander, at a colourful ceremony held at General Tukur Buratai Sport Field, Nigerian Army Cantonment, Ikeja, Lagos.

The state executive members that were sworn in were Onimowo, Ayo Lawal as deputy state commander, Administration and Logistics, Turton Ibiyinka, deputy state commander, Training and Operation, Ayodele Ajayi, deputy state commander, Finance and Account, Nurudeen Lawal, assistant state commander, Provost Marshal, Fate Adeleye, assistant state commander, Intelligence and Information Gathering, Sodiq Akere, assistant state commander, Welfare and Medical among others.

The chief host, Col. Sani Adamu Depsia (retd) and national commander, Man O’ War, advised the members to be vigilant and watch their back particularly with the insecurity in the country.

He said: “We want to appreciate our senior colleagues, the military for the enablement given two us within the environment and to other law enforcement agencies for the collaboration.

“Looking at the parade, these efforts that you have put together will not be like water poured on top of a rock. Our national command has not been sleeping; they are working towards making sure that the outfit is placed in a better place in the helm of affairs in this country.”

In his welcome address, Onimowo said the key interest of his administration was to synergize and create a robust relationship between Man O’ War and government security and enforcement agencies, as well as all other reputable organisations to achieve the common goal of national security and community development.

He disclosed further: “Our vision as Man O’ War is to create a nation where people and communities live together in peace, harmony and mutual respect through sustainable community development, so as to accelerate the socio-political and economic well-being of the nation, in line with the C&LTC’s resolve.

“Our mission is to positively direct human resources towards rendering selfless community services and to create unique life experiences that lead to a new understanding and awareness of us and our surroundings.”

He disclosed that during his tenure, the Lagos State Command would become a reference model for best practices in all states of the national commands.

“I am confident that this new executive officers would respond to its statutory responsibilities to coordinate, manage and control the affairs of this organisation, leading with highest level of examples in the cause of discharging its duties, and shall create enabling platforms for the upcoming officers to exercise their leadership skills without any form of sentiment nor partiality.”

Lucky commended the 9 Brigade Nigerian Army “for the approval and support given to us to make use of this facility for this event. It is indeed obvious that you are investing in national youth developmental activities with your assets and in your own ways.”
