A middle-aged man (name withheld) has reportedly tricked his friend to a drinking joint only to kill and bury him at his residence, to conceal his crime while he sold the deceased’s Toyota Sienna car.
The incident was said to have happened at Felele, Lokoja, Kogi State, when the suspect, a co-technician with deceased, identified as Kehinde Ajayi, on hearing that the friend (Ajayi) bought a fairly used Toyota sienna urged him to ‘wash’ (celebrate) the car for him and tricked him to a drinking joint, where he was drugged and later killed while he sold off the vehicle.
The incident occurred on Sunday, July 24, 2023, at the outskirts of Lokoja, while the said vehicle, Toyota Sienna, was marked ash colour with registration number LSD 228 HJ.
The source added that the arrested killer, who is into air condition repair, tricked the late Kehinde, at about 10am, to come along with him to celebrate the new car he just bought. The source disclosed further that the late Kehinde and others went to an unknown place but were never seen again.
When the family of the late Kehinde reported the missing person to the police, one of his friends, who was a suspect, was arrested last week and he gave useful information on what happened to the late Kehinde. The source said after killing him, the suspect went away with his car.
After arresting the suspect on Monday, he was said to have taken the policemen to his own house where he allegedly buried the body of Kehinde.
However, some angry youths who were around when police recovered the body attacked the house of the suspect after the body had been exhumed by the police.
Meanwhile, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ayah, confirmed the incident and said that the body of late Kehinde has been recovered, while investigation has commenced on those behind the killing.
