Super Eagles striker Ademola Lookman has been nominated for the 2024 Men’s Ballon d’Or.
Lookman, who is the only African player named in the 30-man nominee for the prestigious award, had a superb season with his Italian Serie A team Atalanta, whom he inspired to win its just the second major trophy in their 117-year history, in a victory against German Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League.
The Nigerian scored a stunning hat-trick as Atalanta beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0.
Real Madrid stars dominate the list, which for the first time will be awarded by France Football and UEFA in partnership.
Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr. are unsurprisingly nominated for the top individual honour in football and are among the frontrunners to win in.
In addition, new signing Kylian Mbappe and Antonio Rudiger also find themselves on the list for the Ballon d’Or nominations for 2024.
The winner of the awards will be announced at the lavish ceremony in Paris on October 28.
