Braimoh stated that Lions recognize the need  in the society to address these challenges to protect our environment,so they are working hard to keep our environment in its best possible condition.
“Making an environmental impact in our community may seem daunting, but Lions  understand that gradual changes are important to create a big one at a time.
“With an eye to a healthier future for our community,  and generations to come, the club  decided to improve, Idi-roko at Ikorodu road in the city of Lagos, the health and well-being of those in the area by lending a hand.
Lion Braimoh said,  the project became necessary as pedestrians no longer use the pedestrian bridge due to the dilapidated nature of the bridge, which made the site look ugly, dirty and unkept.
She said, ” the refurbishment is a way to beautify the environment and equally save the lives of Nigerians from untimely death reasons we have taken up this project.
In her words ” the clubs in my Zone came together to refurbish this pedestrian bridge. We replaced  the missing rods and bars on the rails and also painted the rails and beams of the bridge.
” The missing rods posed a danger to the lives of people, items could easily fall from the hands of anyone, roll through the wide gaps created by the missing rods, land on a car moving car, driving underneath the bridge and cause a car crash or pile up,” she stated.
She noted that the reason for the project is to restore the beauty of the bridge and give it that environmental face to behold, as environmental protection is one of the Lions Club International global core areas.
Lions  International is the world largest service organisation known for investing her 3t’s namely time , talent and treasure to touch lives of the poor and the needy in the community and also impact the world. The club does this to collaborate, partner and support the effort of the government in alleviating poverty in the country.
Braimoh said, ” I will urge the government to have a monitoring team that will  go round to check and replace missing portions before they become a death trap. “Also find ways to stop those people who come in the odd hours of the night to cut off the rods and bars and use them for their own selfish interest.”
