Lekki land dispute: Firm accuses Lagos taskforce boss of disobeying court order

Advance Lincon Limited has accused the Chairman of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit, Adetayo Akerele, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), of defying a subsisting court order in an ongoing land dispute at Lekki Peninsula Scheme II.

The company alleged that despite a directive issued by the High Court of Lagos State on March 10, 2026 mandating all parties to maintain the status quo, the Taskforce boss has continued to supervise activities on the disputed property.

The land in question, identified as Plot Block 69H, Lekki Peninsula Scheme II, is claimed by Advance Lincon Limited, which said it lawfully acquired the property from the Lagos State Government between 2002 and 2009.

The firm added that it fulfilled all statutory requirements, leading to the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy in 2014.

However, the dispute arose following a competing claim by another firm, Lincoln Advanced Radiology Service Limited.

Advance Lincon Limited maintained that the rival firm has not presented any registered title to justify its claim.

In a statement signed by the firm’s counsel, Akinlabi Apara and Semiu Olanrewaju, the protocol officer, Lagos Advocacy Group and made available to journalists, the company alleged that CSP Akerele, acting through the taskforce, has been involved in enforcement operations at the site, including supervising fencing and development works, in what it described as a violation of the court’s directive.

According to the firm, armed personnel were seen at the location accompanying workers and facilitating ongoing construction activities, despite the court’s order to maintain the status quo pending compliance with pre-action protocols.

Legal representatives of the company argued that such actions could amount to contempt of court if established. They noted that disobedience to a valid court order undermines the authority of the judiciary.

The firm further disclosed that contempt proceedings have been initiated against the alleged violators, including the issuance of a Form 48, which serves as a notice of the consequences of disobeying a court order.

Advance Lincon Limited also raised concerns over the alleged involvement of officials from the New Town Development Authority (NTDA) and other individuals, calling for transparency and accountability.

When Sunday Sun contacted Akerele on the matter yesterday, the Lagos taskforce chairman promised to get back to the reporter shortly after. He, however, had yet to call back as at the time of filing the report.
