The Exquisite Royal Pearl Club in collaboration with the House of Assembly member representing Yakurr 1 State Constituency in the Cross River House of Assembly, Hon. Cyril Omini, has distributed food items and personal hygiene essentials to women and young girls in Ugep during the celebration of the 2024 Ugep International New Yam festival.
President General of the Club, Mrs Jesam Obeten, while distributing the items, said it was meant to promote their well-being, personal hygiene and empowerment.
She added that the Club was using the festival to also promote the well-being of the girl-child and women, empowering them and creating a social environment for a seamless celebration.
According to her, festivals are social celebrations that brings people together in unity to celebrate their cultural rebirth, hence the need to use the occasion to promote safety hygiene among young girls in the community.
The 2024 edition of the Leboku festival was massively attended by sons and daughters of Yakurr LGA, visitors and representatives from the state government.
The Exquisite Royal Pearls Club was also one of the sponsors of this year’s festival, demonstrating their commitment to supporting community development and celebrating their rich cultural heritage.
