Hon. Chinedu Ogah, representing Ikwo/Ezza South in Ebonyi State, has opposed the West African Examinations Council’s (WAEC) plan to use Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Ogah, Chairman of the House Committee on Correctional Services, argued that CBT would undermine sciences and Nigeria’s education system, as sciences require practical approaches.

“If you are proposing CBT for WASSCE, how do you combine titration when you are combining cabon oxide with Co2 to get a result?” he asked during a Monday briefing in Abakaliki.

Ogah also criticised the recent JAMB examination issues, alleging sabotage by a staff member in JAMB’s ICT department targeting the South East.

He urged JAMB’s Registrar to review staff to prevent future incidents. Additionally, he called for ICT integration in all primary and secondary schools to prepare students for digital exams, stating, “We are killing our education, we will killing our Science.”
