In a demonstration of its commitment to education and community development, LAPO Microfinance Bank recently awarded  scholarships to five deserving indigenes of Aba Aiyepe, Ijebu in Ogun State.

The scholarships, which cover beneficiaries from secondary school to university level, reflect the Bank’s dedication to empowering young people through access to quality education.

Speaking at the presentation, Oluremi Akande, Director of Marketing & Communications of the bank, noted that education remains one of the most sustainable investments in the future of any community.

He emphasised that LAPO’s intervention seeks to remove financial barriers that often hinder brilliant but less privileged students from achieving their dreams.

“These scholarships are more than financial support; they are an investment in the future of Aba Aiyepe. By empowering these young minds, we are equipping the community and the nation at large with leaders, innovators, and change-makers of tomorrow,” he said. In his response, Oba Michael Kolawole Adekoya, Alaiye-Aba of Aba Aiyepe, Ijebu, commended LAPO Microfinance Bank for the laudable initiative, describing it as a historic gesture that will leave a lasting impact on the community.

“This scholarship scheme is a blessing to Aba Aiyepe and a golden opportunity for our young people to pursue education without hindrance. On behalf of the entire community, I extend heartfelt appreciation to LAPO Microfinance Bank for sowing this seed of hope. We are confident that this yearly commitment will not only uplift our children but also strengthen the future of Aba Aiyepe and beyond,” the monarch said.

The Bank also announced that the scholarship scheme will become a yearly initiative, ensuring continuous support for young indigenes in pursuit of secondary and tertiary education. This commitment aligns with LAPO’s broader corporate social responsibility focus on education, empowerment, and sustainable community development.

Community leaders, parents, and other stakeholders present at the event commended LAPO Microfinance Bank for the gesture, describing it as a beacon of hope that will inspire more students to pursue excellence in their studies.
