Suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group has attacked a mosque, killed five worshippers and injured three others in a reprisal attack on the victims following a failed ambush on the convoy of a Nigerian Army General Officer Commanding (GOC).
It was gathered that the attackers stormed the Dadinkowa community mosque in Maiyama Local Government on Wednesday night while congregation evening prayers were ongoing and opened fire on the worshippers.
When contacted, Kebbi Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the attack.
He said: “Yes it’s true Sir. The terrorists targeted the mosque in retaliation for their earlier military defeat”.
The PRO confirmed that five worshippers were shot dead in the attack, while three others suffered different degrees of injuries and were evacuated to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
