The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has raised the alarm over the activities of fraudulent individuals issuing fake vehicle documents, including Roadworthiness Certificates and other vehicle particulars, to unsuspecting motorists across the state.
The ministry condemned the practice, describing it as illegal and a threat to public safety. It stressed that vehicle documentation remains a statutory responsibility handled exclusively by duly authorised agencies under the ministry, warning that any document obtained outside these official channels is invalid and punishable under the law.
In a statement, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, urged motorists to desist from patronising unauthorised agents for vehicle
documentation.

He warned that engaging such illegal operators not only compromises road safety but also exposes vehicle owners to possible prosecution.
The Commissioner further disclosed that the Ministry, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, has intensified enforcement operations to track down and prosecute those involved in the fraudulent activities.
“Anyone found engaging in this illegal act will face the full wrath of the law,” he said.
The Ministry also advised members of the public to always verify the authenticity of service providers before conducting any vehicle documentation process and to promptly report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
