Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Olanrewaju Elegushi has boasted that despite the challenges posed by COVID -19 pandemic and other recent upheavals, the state is still waxing stronger.
The commissioner affirmed this at the 2020 Christmas Carol service, held that COVID-19 took all the nations by surprise.
Elegushi said the Christmas Carol which is the fourteenth in the series in the state was a period to reflect on the mercies of God.
He noted that “The end of the year is a period of sober reflection, a time to take stock of all activities from the beginning of the year in order to express our gratitude to the Most High for His divine intervention in Lagos State. Despite our challenges, we are still standing tall by His grace. I beseech us all to count our blessings and give thanks because He is indeed Lord over All!
“Globally, the Corona Virus took all Nations by surprise. The great nations were brought to their knees, Africa and Nigeria in particular was prophesied to witness countless deaths but with fervent prayers, determination and hard work, we are coming out of the woods. This is worthy of thanking God for.”
‘’We cannot but remember those who have fallen on the way, our hearts are with their families even as we pray that the almighty will rest their souls and give the families affected the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses.
Elegushi wished Lagosians Merry and joyous Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance.
Also speaking , the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Home Affairs, Mrs Adewumi Elizabeth Adekanye thanked God for what he has done for Lagos State and its citizens all through the years and prayed God continue to increase the prosperity of the state in all ramifications.
