Lagos LG chairmen urge residents to collect PVCs, donate bus to community heads

The Chairman of Conference 57, the umbrella body of chairmen of the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has urged residents to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the 2027 general election.

Olowa made the appeal  while representing the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, at a strategic PVC sensitisation and community engagement programme organised by the Lagos State Baales Forum in Epe Division.

He said voter participation remains critical to sustaining democratic governance and called on eligible residents to ensure they register, collect their PVCs and exercise their civic responsibility during the next general election.

Olowa also pledged that Conference 57 would collaborate with the Lagos State Baales Forum to mobilise residents across the state to participate in the electoral process and support the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including President Bola Tinubu and the party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Kadri Hamzat.

As part of efforts to strengthen grassroots leadership, Olowa, on behalf of Conference 57, donated a luxury bus to the Epe Divisional Baales, describing the gesture as a contribution towards enhancing the administrative and logistical capacity of traditional rulers in the division.

Speaking at the event, the Convener of the Lagos State Baales Forum, Dr. Seyi Bamigbade, commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as his continued support for traditional institutions and community leadership structures.

According to Bamigbade, strengthening the operational capacity of traditional rulers would enable them to promote peace, unity and grassroots development more effectively within their communities.

He added that the vehicle donation underscores the Lagos State Government’s sustained partnership with traditional institutions in advancing community development and bringing governance closer to the people.

Other speakers at the sensitisation programme also encouraged residents to collect and safeguard their PVCs, stressing that active participation in the electoral process remains essential for deepening democracy and promoting sustainable development at the grassroots.
